First peas planted

Have planted the first peas against the fence in the front yard and trimmed the young buddleia tree to let sun in and hopefully the peas will climb up over it.

The rocks around the seeds will hopefully help defend against the onslaught of the hens.

First karaka, last taupata

After a late morning walk through the pines across the road, I planted the last taupata and the first karaka from the plants brought over by my parents the other day. Sunny day overall with some wind. Cloudy with a shower of rain late afternoon.

More taupata planted

The sun is showing in the backyard and creeping into the house before noon now. It stays in the yard for about an hour, shifting from the back to the front.

Two taupata planted

The first of this winter's plantings have gone into the ground. Kitchen scraps were put into the holes before soil from the vege patch in the back yard was added.

Sun started shining into the house today.

First area for tidying and planting trees

My parents kindly brought some young trees across for me to plant in the yard. This spot in front of the deck is the first area I'll start planting and tidying.

The yard tends to get quite shaggy over the no-sun period.

Ranunculus planted

Finally, the Ranunculus 'bulbs' are planted.

Dirt was obtained from the back garden.
Flowers have grown here previously, so hopefully more
will grow in the new spot from seeds naturally sown.
The previously dug row was dug again once, sown,
then filled with the dirt from the back garden.
